| Utilities and the construction industry have long sought a
faster, easier method of drilling holes in solid rock. Traditional blasting/ jackhammering
is slow, noisy and often prohibite. Various techniques employing downhole hammerdrills
have been developed, but large rig size, unstable operation or restricted mobility have
posed problems. ROCK STAR® 2000 from ROCK STAR Technology Inc. represents a
breakthrough in the use of downhole hammerdrills for boring 12-in. to 20-in. diameter
holes in solid rock or rocky formations. Boom-mounted for superior mobility, ROCK STAR
2000 is also exceptionally stable. A proprietary stablizing frame (patent 5273124) keeps
the unit firmly in place while the percussion hammer and carbide-tooth bit cut quickly
through the hardest rock.
